The initiative to add Ukraine to the study belongs to EdCamp Ukraine, and it was designated the National Center for SSES in Ukraine by the decision of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

About organization

EdCamp Ukraine is a public organization that unites educators and helps them grow.

Founded in 2015, the organization is now the area leader in non-formal education, with a community of 40,000 teachers representing every second school in the country.

(Un)conferences and professional development

EdCamp Ukraine organizes annual national (un)conferences to support and develop Ukrainian educators and scales these efforts through waves of regional (un)conferences across Ukraine. The organization also conducts professional development programs for teachers and operates EdWay, the National Platform for Teachers’ Professional Development Opportunities.

During the war

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, EdCamp Ukraine has implemented a series of humanitarian initiatives aimed at anti-crisis support and increasing the capacity of Ukrainian educators, parents, and students. These include:

The community is actively involved in drafting and implementation of the state educational policy:

SEE Learning

Initiative

Since 2019, EdCamp Ukraine NGO has been piloting SEE Learning in Ukraine as part of the nationwide experiment with the participation of the Institute of Education Content Modernization, the Institute of Current Challenges in Education at the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, with support of the Civil Peace Service — GIZ Ukraine.

Coverage

A total of 5,023 students and 425 teachers in 26 schools are testing the SEE Learning program and elective courses for grades 1–2, 3–4, 5–6, and 7–9, developed and approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

Educational materials

To ensure SEE Learning teaching in Ukraine, methodology materials and textbooks, manuals for parents, teachers and pedagogues, an introductory online course for educators, and a professional learning community for discussion and exchange of experiences are available free of charge in Ukrainian.

EdCamp Ukraine’s activities have been acknowledged by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, the World Bank, the Oxford Symposium in School-Based Family Counseling, and other prominent organizations.
